Camellias 茶花

The 1st Shanghai Xingyuan Farm Camellia Festival is held from Mar. 18 through May 4, 2015 at Shanghai Urban Vegetable Garden, featuring more than 150 varieties of camellia.

Camellia is listed as the top 10 flowers in China. In ancient times, camellias were widely planted in imperial palaces and temples. There is a folk saying that "viewing camellia equals to viewing a hundred kinds of flowers".

3月18日至5月4日，在离奉贤海湾国家森林公园仅10公里的上海“都市菜园”，将举办“上海都市菜园·上海星源农场首届茶花节”。来自青浦星源农场“上海茶花园”的700多盆、150多个品种的各色茶花，将在蓝天白云下尽显端庄高雅、富丽堂皇之美。

以民间流传着一种说法“赏茶花等于赏百花”。在古代的皇家和寺院里，都栽种有争奇斗艳的茶花。历代数不清的文人为茶花赋诗作词，这种中国传统的观赏花卉，也被列入了我国“十大名花”。
